SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 27 (San Francisco News Online) — NVIDIA has introduced Halos for Robotics, a safety system it says links AI compute, system software, sensor data, safety applications and inspection into one standardized architecture for robots and other physical AI systems.

In a June 22 newsroom release, NVIDIA described Halos for Robotics as an industry-first, full-stack safety system. The company said the architecture includes NVIDIA IGX Thor for AI compute, Holoscan Sensor Bridge for sensor connectivity, NVIDIA Halos OS for software safety functions and the NVIDIA Halos AI Systems Inspection Lab for inspection and certification preparation.

NVIDIA said the system builds on more than 18,600 engineering years of autonomous vehicle safety development. It also said the inspection lab is the world’s first ANAB-accredited program for functional and AI safety for physical AI, and that it is designed to help partners prepare for third-party certification by bodies including TÜV Rheinland, UL Solutions, TÜV SÜD, exida, SGS and CertX.

NVIDIA also said Agility Robotics is the inaugural enterprise slated to implement the technology, with Halos Core and IGX Thor going into its Digit humanoid robot.
